God is pursuing you!

God wants us to choose Him. He wants us to pursue Him. To go after Him. To desire Him. To need Him. To want Him. But He also pursues us. The entire Bible is stories of God pursuing us. He stands at the door, knocking, and if they let Him in, He will enter and be with you. I believe He wants it to be a mutual desire to be close to each other. A picture of a loving Father and his special children, wanting to be together. I am talking about pursuit in this blog. The Father pursuing us and us pursuing God and His righteousness. God pursuing us is a picture of how special we are to Him. I will say that again. God pursuing us is a picture of how special we are to Him. Amazing!! It blows my mind that God, creator of the Heavens and the Earth, the king of Kings and Lord of Lords, the creator of everything, the one in control of everything, thinks we are so special he pursues us!

That is only the first step though. We must allow Him in, to give Him everything, and allow Him to move in our lives. That is a tough pill to swallow sometimes. Allowing Him control. Giving Him everything. That is a part of you pursuing Him. Pursuing Him includes giving Him everything, allowing Him control in your life, allowing Him to do what only He can do. Pursuing Him makes Him the priority in your life. Pursuing Him puts Him in His rightful place in your life and that is where change starts. That’s where your life is never the same. Then you start pursuing Him more. Then you pursue Him even more, and more, and more. Your heart changes, your desires change, your priorities change, your marriage changes, your relationship with your children changes, your life changes!!

He will never force Himself on anyone. After all, that’s not love. You choose to love someone. You cannot force anyone to love you. He wants you to want Him, to love Him. His love for us is greater than we could ever understand. He is pursuing you. He is waiting for you to talk to Him, to call on His name, and spend time with Him. He wants to pour out Himself on you, you just need to be willing to receive it. He is relentless in His pursuit of you. He will not stop until we are His. If you think about it, that is amazing. Kings of any country look down on their people and expect them to do everything for them. Kings of this world don’t pursue anyone. They don’t go out of their way to speak with people, love on people, or chase them. The King of Kings pursues us. He chases us. He wants us to want Him. He pursues you!

Today’s Prayer:

Jesus, I love you! I need you more and more every day. Thank you for thinking of me. Thank you for protecting me. Thank you for loving me so much that you pursue me. I want to be closer to you, help me do that. Give me your heart, give me your eyes, give me all of you and less of me. So that we become one, in Jesus name.
